A community nonprofit caring for injured and orphaned wildlife, bringing native plants back to the shoreline, and restoring the habitat both depend on.
What we do
Healthy coastal wildlife needs healthy coastal habitat. We work on both ends of that at once, right here in New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick counties.
We provide medical care and a safe place to recover for injured and orphaned small mammals — squirrels, opossums, rabbits, and more — with one goal: release back to the wild. We're currently licensed for small mammals, with plans to expand as our permits grow.
Native plants are the foundation of the coastal food web. We help neighbors, schools, and landowners choose the right species, replace invasives, and turn ordinary yards into habitat that feeds pollinators and birds.
From dune plantings to living shorelines to marsh cleanups, we take on hands-on projects that rebuild the places wildlife lives — and invite volunteers to dig in alongside us.
Working together
No single organization can do this work alone. We coordinate closely with Hampstead Wildlife Rehab, Skywatch Bird Rescue, Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter, and rehabilitator Misty Rogers — referring animals to whoever's best positioned to help and sharing knowledge across our network. We also work with veterinarians throughout the region for medical care beyond what a rehab facility can provide on its own. "Alliance" is in our name because we mean it.
Live from the clinic
We keep a running log of the patients currently being treated — who they are, why they came in, and how they're doing. It updates as animals arrive, recover, and head home.
